Pilates
Annette
Jackson,
Director, x225
jacksona@jccmw.org
Pilates is a unique method of body
conditioning named after German-born Joseph H. Pilates. The Pilates method
is designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. This is achieved by
performing a system of sequential exercises in a very precise manner,
emphasizing proper alignment and breathing. To sum it up in three words, it
is STRENGTH, STRETCH and CONTROL. Both floor or “mat” exercises as
well as machine or “apparatus” exercises are encompassed in this system. We
offer both group lessons for matwork and private lessons. The schedule for
group pilates is listed under the
group fitness section. All machine or
apparatus lessons are performed in a private, one-on-one, or two on one
setting.
