CONTINUING THE GROWTH:
JCC OF MID-WESTCHESTER HOSTS A GALA TO REMEMBER
Scarsdale, NY - The JCC of Mid-Westchester celebrated distinguished Board member Karen Spar Kasner's role in revitalizing the agency, and presented a Community Service Award to Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-Scarsdale) at its "Continuing the Growth" Gala at Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, NY, on May 2nd.
The event paid a special tribute to Kasner for her work, talent, dedication and support in spearheading the growth and revitalization of JCC over the past 20 months. Kasner gave special thanks to Gala Co-Chairs Marcy Vinder and Loren Gilberg, both of Scarsdale, and to others who have worked to boost the JCC's role as the vibrant and relevant community center it is destined to be.
The evening raised more than $180,000 for the agency, according to Co-President of the Board Peter Rothschild. One of the highlights of the evening was the unveiling of plans for the Karen Spar Kasner Play Center, established by funding from Kasner's family and friends, which will replace the existing outdoor playground at the JCC. The playground is used by the JCC's two pre-schools, the Nursery School and the Toward Tomorrow pre-school for children with development needs. Proceeds from the event will go to more programming and meaningful community events, as well as continuing the growth of the JCC.
"With the experienced leadership of Karen Spar Kasner, and the new direction set by our new professional leader Karen Kolodny, who has come to us from the 92nd Street Y with a number of initiatives to be announced this year, this promises to be one of our best years ever," said Board Co-President Ophira Cukierman.
