Competitive Gymnastics Coordinator / Head Coach

We are looking for a Competitive Gymnastics Coordinator / Head Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Gymnastics and provide instruction to children of all ages in the Gymnastics Department. This will include teaching 1-4 hour sessions, sharing the vision of our USAG competitive curriculums, and competitions, creating lesson plans and evaluating gymnasts. Additionally, the incumbent will be leading the competitive team staff during practice.

This is a full-time role (up to 40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be available to work 4-6 days per week including some weekends.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

• Teach 1-4 hour sessions

• Coach USAG Development Program and Xcel Program Levels

• Work with children of all ages, primarily ages 5-14

• Use positive and constructive communication with kids and parents

• Creatively incorporate curriculum into the lesson plans and submit evaluations per session

• Actively engage during activities or events with gymnasts

• Work collaboratively with other instructors to maintain order and participation during practice

• Attend monthly meetings and development trainings

• Maintain a schedule for parent communications, meet coordination, gym maintenance, etc.

• Attend sanctioned competitive events

• Encourage a positive environment promoting mutual support and the desire to learn and grow

• Maintain attendance for all competitive practices

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested by the Director, which may include, but are not limited to providing instruction to recreational classes and pre-competitive coordination, assisting the director with competitive items such as scheduling, paperwork, etc, and gymnasium housekeeping

Member Services Associate (Part Time)

The Member Services Associate serves as the face of the JCCMW to the community.  Your role will be to serve as a resource of information, provide a warm welcome and sign people up for membership and programs.

This role is part time (~20 hours per week). Some weekend availability is preferred, but not required. Specific days can be flexible.

Specific responsibilities in this role:

  • Serve as the initial point of contact at the JCCMW and ensure high quality, professional interactions with all community members.
  • Understand the many programs of the JCCMW and be able to articulate those to community members, as well as the benefits of the many offerings.
  • Facilitate registration for all JCCMW programs (Nursery School, Gala, Swim, Gymnastics, summer camps, Fitness Memberships, one-off events, etc.)
  • Conduct tours of our 75,000 square foot facility
  • Respond to inquiries within 48 hours.

Hebrew Language Teacher

Job Summary

The JCCMW seeks a part-time, in-person Hebrew language teacher for a college-level high school class through Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA). Classes will meet 2.5 hours on Thursday evenings, including a 15-minute break, for 27 weeks, from September to May. Students in 11th and 12th grade participating in this class will be highly motivated. They must apply to participate and pass a baseline assessment created by SUPA. All curriculum and materials are also provided by SUPA.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

● Teach 27 in-person Hebrew classes using SUPAs curricular materials and provide makeup classes.

● Hold once a week Zoom office hours.

● Communicate with students outside of class hours to support their coursework.

● In addition to classroom responsibilities, the teacher will be expected to attend regular meetings with a Syracuse University instructor.

● This is a pilot year of the SUPA Hebrew language program at JCCMW. The class is contingent upon minimum class enrollments.

● Once hired, candidate must attend SUPA’s one-week Summer Institute in Syracuse, New York, in July 2024.

Summer Sports Specialist

Summer Days at the J is seeking a Sports Specialist who is motivated, dedicated and trustworthy to help guide our campers (ages 2-7) throughout the summer. You will be responsible for lesson planning, equipment, implementing activities while offering instruction and direction to both children and staff.

Must make a full summer commitment (June 24-August 9).

Essential Functions:
* Plan and execute 7 weeks of sports and other program area instruction and skill building
* Submit weekly lesson plans and equipment needs
* Manage a camper group of 8-15 campers and instruct counselors how to assist during activity sessions
* Must be able to work and cooperate in a friendly manner with campers, staff and administration. Integrate a strong understanding of sportsmanship in programming
* Assume additional roles and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
* Keep an inventory of supplies and manage storage areas for cleanliness
* Notify supervisor of any issues or concerns as it relates to schedule, facility, equipment or behaviors that need to be addressed

Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience working with children is required
* Must be 21 years of age and preferably a college graduate
* Experience working at a summer camp is strongly preferred

Knowledge and Skills:
* Sports or coaching background required
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Positive attitude, outgoing and energetic
* Good communication with coworkers, parents, and supervisors
* Must be comfortable being outdoors

Summer Camp Counselor

Summer Days at the J is a traditional day camp located in Southern Westchester County, at the JCC Mid-Westchester. We are seeking motivated, dedicated and trustworthy Counselors to help guide our campers (ages 2-7) throughout the summer.   Gain valuable work experience that can help in any career path and make great friends.

Must make a full summer commitment (June 24–August 9).

Counselors must be at least 16 years of age and have previous Summer camp/teaching/babysitting experience.   Counselors typically work as a team with two other counselors and one group of children, and are responsible for the health and welfare of their campers each day. Counselors are with their group throughout the day at all of their activities, assisting the specialists and supporting and encouraging their campers.

The Early Childhood Center at the JCCMW is hiring a Lead Nursery School Teacher for our White Plains school.  Position will be responsible for the general supervision and management of a group of children and will work in cooperation with and under the supervision of the Nursery School Director. This candidate must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well with children and be willing to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance with the programs philosophies. This candidate must be able to maintain a professional manner towards the children, families and co-workers at all times and be able to communicate professionally and openly. The person selected for this position must possess the educational requirements of a lead teacher as outlined by the program's licensing agency (minimum of a CDA is required).

Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree including or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field

or

  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field

or

  • Child Development Associate and 1 year experience related to caring for children

or

  • 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field with a plan of study leading to one of the above and 2 year experience related to caring for children

Lifeguards

Lifeguards monitor pool activities and ensure member safety. Lifeguards need to possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures. To help prevent incidents, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines as outlined by JCC Mid-Westchester. To ensure safety, lifeguards must remain alert throughout an entire shift. To gain a lifeguard job, applicant must hold an ARC lifeguard and CPR/AED certification. A lifeguard may need to complete a preemployment physical and a skills test. Additional job duties a lifeguard performs include preparing activity and incident reports and performing pool maintenance. Competitive hourly rates based on experience. Gymnastics Instructor

Provides instruction in Gymnastics Department, which includes preschool and school-age curriculums. Max hours: 25 per week (based onsite; all staff meetings included) Days: Three to five per week (including weekends) Compensation: $15–$20 per hour (based on experience).

Competitive Gymnastics Coach

The successful candidate will provide instruction within the Gymnastics Department. This will include sharing the vision for our USAG competitive curriculums and competitions, learning and teaching routines, constructing lesson plans per level and group, following the head coach’s lead for all practices, and evaluating gymnasts throughout the year.
This is a part-time role (up to 30 hours per week). The successful candidate will be available to work three to six days per week, including some weekends.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must hold the following certifications or be prepared to qualify for them through the JCC during training:
    • USA Gymnastics Competitive Coach
    • Safe Sport
    • Tough Coaching or Emotional Abuse
    • Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction
    • CPR/AED

Sunday/Funday Group Leaders

The JCC Special Needs Enrichment Services seeks part-time group leaders for our Sunday/Funday program.

Sunday/Funday is an all-inclusive, social-skills enrichment program carried out through art, music, gymnastics, creative movement, and active play to help our youth with developmental disabilities cultivate friendships and further develop their social skills and pragmatic communication skills.

Group leaders supervise children in recreational activities, oversee behavior management strategies, and work with recreational specialists to adapt and plan suitable activities to meet the specific needs of each individual child and to promote inclusion within the entire group.

Program operates on selected Sundays from 8:30 AM to Noon, including 24 Sundays during the academic year and six Sundays during the summer. Candidates must be comfortable working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $20.00–$25.00 per hour
